Meet the Guest Editor for Issue #13: Shawn Michelle Davis

Shawn Michelle Davis has been a deadhead, an archaeologist, a mermaid, and a technical writer. Now she's a cop's wife and mother of a 3-year-old. Her education includes a Bachelor's Degree in English and Anthropology from the University of Guam, and a Master's Degree in Arts & Letters from Southern Oregon University.

Shawn's short fiction has appeared in various print and on-line literary publications, and she's been an active participant in a popular on-line flash fiction workshop for two years. She's looking for a publisher for her recently finished novel about "hallucinogens, insanity, and God." Other experience includes two years on the editorial staff of a literary anthology [print], archaeology report writing, software manual writer/editor, public relations and publicity for businesses and writing groups, Master's thesis editing, and serving as editor of a martial arts newsletter. She also edits the Cayuse Press flash fiction zine, Cenotpah Pocket Edition.

But who is she, really? "My most recent obsession is Haibun: a Japanese form of literature which blends prose and haiku. I love to be in nature, be it camping in the mountains, SCUBA diving in the tropical ocean, or just hanging out at the park. I also enjoying sharing a pot of tea with a good friend, talking about writing, religion, and the world. I eat organic food, and love Big Macs. I'm a feminist, and am grateful I can stay home to raise my child. I teach my daughter about Mother Earth by growing strawberries and planting an herb garden. I think TV is a gift from God."

Meet the Guest Editor for Issue #11 & Issue #12: Patricia L. Johnson

Patricia writes, "The Green Tricycle has always been a favorite ride on the information highway for me. That makes it doubly exciting to be guest editor for Issue 11 and 12. Send me those quality poems and stories, your very best. Your submission may be lightly playful or very serious, or somewhere in-between; but make sure they are strong and polished. I look for voices that are a pleasure to read; for works that send chills down my spine with their brilliance.

"I am the editor of The Book of Remembrance from Cayuse Press. It is a heartwarming experience to edit this online journal about the 9/11 tragedies. I hope you will visit."

About The Green Tricycle, Patricia says, "Pedal along through the new issue, there is much to enjoy!"

In addition to editing The Book of Remembrance, Patricia is chief editor of her company, WriteView. She has years of experience editing and proofreading educational materials, novels, history books, non-fiction books, and non-fiction articles. She teaches at the Internet Writing Workshop as one of several facilitators. Her poems can be found in many print and online journals, most recently at The Book of Remembrance and The Green Tricycle. She holds a degree in fine arts from the University of Iowa. Many of her paintings and collages are in private collections and she still unwinds by drawing and doing collages.

Meet the Guest Editor for Issue #10: Paul Tylor

Paul writes, "I am looking forward to my role as 'guest' editor of The Green Tricycle. All I ask is that poets send me their best and together we'll make The Tricycle spin its little green wheels." He's also anxious to review your short prose, too.

Paul hails from Washington D.C., where he attended grammar school. A graduate of Gonzaga College High School prep school, he then went on to graduate in 1960 from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's degree in English/Philosophy. He then studied at Catholic University in Washington, D.C., where he attended many post-graduate writing courses.

He recently retired from a career with the National Geographic Society as Vice President and Corporate Secretary, and writes, "For years I was Manager and Assistant Vice President of hundreds of employees responsible for responding to inquiries from the then ten million National Geographic Society members -- over one million responses a year. These responses required my personal input and supervision. For the last years of my career I was in charge of the Society's Libraries and Image Collection as well as the ever-changing exhibits the Society stages in Explorers Hall for their 350,000 annual visitors. I was not only Secretary for the Society's Board of Trustees, but for the Committee for Research and Exploration as well. These positions required an enormous amount of writing and editing."

He continues, "I have had poetry published in periodicals, includling Haiku Highlights, one anthology, a now defunct magazine in D.C. The Circle, and in the last two years in The Poet's Page. One short story in The Circle (print) and one story in Gangway, Australia. I also have poetry currently online in The Horsethief's Journal, The Green Tricycle and The Book of Remembrance Poetry Anthology.

"I have written the verses for a series of children's stories. Along with my partner, Patricia Skelding, we intend to do many more such books. Our last three are devoted to bird-watching and to crows. These books are available from several shops in northern Virginia and in southern New Jersey, and all books are available direct from the publishers. Contact skelding@erols.com for ordering information or visit our website at http://www.timerhymes.com.

He concludes, "I love the writings of Vladimir Nabokov and the poetry of Richard Wilbur."

Paul has been editing the award winning all fiction zine Cenotaph for more than a year. Before he took over as editor, he had several stories published in Cenotaph. Read them here: Issue #3, Issue #5, and Issue #8.

Read The Emperor Penguin and Other Poems, and eden & Other Poems, Paul's latest collections of poetry published by Mercury Books.

Meet the Guest Co-Editors for "The Trike's Return" Issue: Marie Eyre and Diane Schuller.

First, here's a note from Marie Eyre:

Hello all!

Question: "How many times can you pedal The Green Tricycle around the 'World of Imagination' in a single day?"

Answer: "As many times as you can possibly envision!"

I look forward, as Guest Co-Editor, to reading the marvelous adventures from your visionary worlds. Our enchanting themes will guide you to our door, where Diane, my wonderful Co-editor, and I eagerly wait to see where you have pedaled! I could not wax more pleased nor excited to be a spoke in the wheel of the marvelous Green Tricycle! Thank you!

And now a comment from Diane Schuller:

Let the bells ring and the banners fly! The Green Tricycle has burst out of the garage and is ready to pedal furiously. As Guest Co-Editors, Marie Eyre and I look forward to rolling the return issue out with some of the freshest and most interesting poetry and prose on the 'Net. I too am thrilled to be a spoke in the wheel of the return of The Green Tricycle.

Additionally, here are their brief biographies:

Marie Eyre writes, "I am a retired musician and published author having been published on the Internet, in literary journals, and in newspaper venues. As a writer, I wear many hats, but poetry is my favorite 'topper'. I view a poem as a piece of art -- it must have movement, color and clarity of purpose. I endeavor to create such poems and look for these qualities in the work of others."

In addition to her skills as a poet and editor, Marie serves as our resident digital artist. Her visual interpretations of the themes serve as an introduction to each theme. Check out more of her fantastic work at Literary Potpourri.

Diane Schuller moves to The Green Tricycle from the Cenotaph Pocket Edition, which she founded and edited for a year. She enjoys country life at "Moonwind Meadows" -- the fountainhead for much of her inspiration. Indoors, her walls are decorated with thousands of books, each housing a treasure trove of lives and experiences (and delicious words).

The sound of, and the images created by words are irresistible to Diane. Although focusing on short-shorts (flash fiction), her prose and poetry also appear in various literary venues and on CBC radio. (Tip for The Trike Returns: She is looking for fresh and unique perspectives to pedal in.)

Visit Diane's website Moonwind Meadows.
