The Suburbs

Two cars in the garage (attached of course).
Split-level, two story, ranch style heaven.
Kids with shiny faces wait perfectly in line
for the bright yellow bus to take them to school.
Everyone there works in the city (of course).
To hear the talk, the city's not fit for
a dog to live.

Every Saturday night, like clockwork
make love in the missionary position,
like good little Protestants.
Except for the nights when the Valium
kicks in (legally prescribed of course).
Church on Sunday morning to
repent for made-up sins.

The neighborhood bar is a little Italian place.
Serves espresso, over two dozen varieties
of freshly ground coffee and sandwiches,
with names you can't even pronounce.
Thirty different beers (all imports of course)
and five dollar glasses of wine.
The tab for two would feed a family in the
Third World for a week.

Man this is living,
everyone should have a cul-de-sac.
