Foursmell

I can smell my fourth year of life
on a particular corner in town
in this coldwarm wind of Spring.

It has found me here.

Maybe this is why I continue on,
town to town, year to year:
if I never own a wind for too long
I can always be surprised like this.

It eludes me why I can't smell
you entering the house
as a dog can

but I smell a time
a quarter century old.
