After the Harvest

During the season for casting out devils -
thunderstorms and strange magnetic aberrations
paralysed the navy, and made air travel impossible.

Some men invented ships,
shaped like bottles, that could float
on the tides and currents for several years,
until they were washed ashore.

Others sat on London Bridge
and howled at the caustic breeze;
hoping for a practical approach
to be taken by those in power.
