When I am gone

you will still see my face in crowds,
hear my name, whispered by strangers
as though to you alone

my shirt, worn and discarded,
once of no consequence
holds, for one last brief moment
with buried face
the essence of our love

And out across the meadow
where snow and hawfrost,
now so long ago
wrapped a captured gaze
to hold our love forever in its spell,
I will come, watch for me there.
