Los Angeles Skyscape
A fire rages beneath my window;
helicopters, like the pressure of ominous thunderclouds
or the beating of a vulture’s wings
trace lazy circles against black smoke.
In another world, it would have been wolves howling
and not sirens.
In another world, I would have turned you away.
