Imprecation
gazing at diana,
silver,
half-consumed by hungry clouds,
i pray to that great huntress with her bow,
mistress of swift sighthounds,
captive to no man's moods.
i pray for strength of purpose,
to be freed from the need of admiration
in men's eyes,
unbuckled from the weakness of the flesh,
absolved of folly,
cleansed of all desire for helplessness.
oh mother goddess moon,
shed on your pleading daughter
silver strands of wisdom,
shine the light of reason into my darkest wantings,
sever from my being the frayed ropes
that bind the anchor of unworthiness
across my fearful soul.
