Avalon's Dance

She was doing nothing new, as she chased a soft rainbow ribbon across our apartment's wood floor. She was just being herself, she was being a kitten. I found myself, for the first time since I've had her, caught up in her magic. Even though I was the one controlling the ribbon's movement, she seemed to have already anticipated its next move, always staying those one or two steps ahead of me. Every move she made seemed to resemble that of a ballet dancer, with only her being able to hear the music as it played. Leaps, twists, turns and kitten pirouettes filled this particular afternoon's dance card. Like a proud parent, I marveled at how agile ands sleek she was, all black, with just her sun kissed golden eyes as our common point of connection. At just a year old, everything was still very much new to her; as adventures seemed to be waiting just beyond each doorway, behind all the chairs and under every table.
