If Wishing Made It So I was having coffee with some friends the other
day, nothing special, just a cup of java over lunch, 'How's your work', and so
on. They were telling me about this wonderful thing that they bought through
the Homeward Shopping Network. "It makes a perfect latte." "It picks up cranberry stains from shag carpet." "It looks so great in my kitchen." "I build my new deck with it." "It makes me a secret agent." "Now I'm not afraid of dying." But when I got excited about it and started to express interest, they all turned a little sheepish. Finally, one of them said, "Actually, it's only just in pretend." So now I have nothing to do with those people. I can't stand their company. And yet, every now and then, like when I'm outside, and it happens to be raining, or I'm waiting for a bus, I am a secret agent. ~Anthony Dowler Anthony Dowler was recently married.
