Salty tongues lick my wounded knees,
skinned by the undertow.
I crawl bemused from the twist of your wave.

Stretched thin and foaming,
acid edges rise to burn me again
eat away holes in my tawny sand-bed.

I have choked on your sodium wash
and emerge ghostly from your brine.
Renew gravitational ties and
my rebel allegiance to the sun.
