Miraculous
Because Lila knows her soul is held glitter
in clear gelatin,
more particle than held vapor,
more sprinkle-shine than hovering fog.
She knows love is nothing shy
of one soul lining up a handful
of shook foil parts and glinting back
mirror kiss for mirror kiss.
So that it’s not the simple matter
of one ghost connecting
with another across crowded airwaves
in the afterhours of the heart.
But nothing short of miracle
a million pocket mirrors
held to moonlight & angled just so
turned & aimed to a million other lights
--say a nightsky
each shine lining up
pushing off & boomeranging back
to the deep end of luminous
& back again.
