Spiral

It begins before you know it

Ribbons of tree meat
Gouged out upward
Without repentance

Always pushing away
Trying to leave
Never gone

You find it in everything:
You can't find it

Like a forever mountain
Across an always plain

Trudging on
Leaving tracks

And the barest cold comfort
Is in hoping that
Some (abstract) one
Will track it to completion

But the more you subtract
The more it multiplies
And you find yourself

Ever
In between
