This Old House
The carpet's been torn up
most everywhere.
Never was a roof
only deep blue air.
This house had treasure
buried under the floor.
We dug it all up
yelling "More, more, more!"
The thick wooded walls
stretched as far as eye could see
'till we pulled the walls down
yelling "Me, me, me!"
The pantry of this house
was stocked and sweet
'till we emptied the shelves
chanting "Eat, eat, eat!"
The curtains of this house
used to filter the sun
'till we ripped them to shreds
yelling "Fun, fun, fun!"
If we don't start taking care
as we should have been
the halls will soon echo with
"Condemned, condemned..."
