minibar

back in town

chalk drawings
dimmed and dusted by
late January snow
adorn the clouded pavement
the smell of damp wood
brings memories of
would-be fires that never burnt
each cobble stone I step on
matches a pale scar on my knees
the mountains wear
a crown of frosted sunbeams
a welcome symphony
silent
with all hushed voices
of the past
