Full Lips
lila & the boy
are not sleeping these days
the night has turned to water
thick & damp & blurry
they toss a penny to the lake
& ask each ripple to fetch a wish
instead a raft floats in
empty until lila breathes life
into it, her lipsticked mouth
blows until it's lila-size
with room enough for the boy
with backlit eyes
that night they fall to fluid dreams
owl & pussycat fashion
buoyed by liquid moonlight
suspended on lila's held breath
