Expectant
Emptiness is the glossy blue dress
nestled away in the closet
behind the bikini and the jeans,
far from my filling, water-balloon style,
in Jell-O mold folds.
Sobering beer belly bouncing along with its own
inner dance.
How I hate these pants,
these shoes I so seldom see.
I carry you with me like a jellybean,
a gummy bear left in a pocket to double in linty size.
My sweet fleshy jumper.
When we meet I'll tell you of bikini days
of tight jeans and nights
of little skirts and tiny shirts and tummies flat and
vain.
I'll tell you of days I thought were colorful and
blissful and fanciful
and so full of full.
Of empty pockets,
aching
for the weight of change.
