Drought

Some say you're cursed
and worthless ground,
a drought of a man
who can't be salvaged.

A host of sweet-eyed lovers
tested your thirsting field
but dried to sad -- could not stay
your burr and thorn. The hardiest
women left you, hugging their
withered hearts.

You've used me up with your dusty
vows buried in monsoon promises,
and I tire of turning cobbles
searching for precious moss.
