Moth

I have seen you

flirting with the uncertain
firelight,

a momentary, flickering image,
dancing, flame licked,
here. Gone.

So I return to this spot
at the edge of your
lush, dark forest --
a squatter

quietly collecting kindling,
cradling tinder in cupped hands,
puffing gently, steadily on the spark,
adding twigs, sticks, small branches.
Coaxing the pyre,

hoping that
lusting, lured by the light,
hungry for the heat
you will show yourself again,
so I can throw myself into your
flame.
