1-2-3
1-2-3
1-2 -- ooops sorry honey
We are in Social Ease 1
A very beginning ballroom dance class
no experience required
for the umpteenth time
We are just dreadful
but love it
Kind of funny
that folks born with three left feet
married each other
The fantasy
Gazing into each others' eyes,
Breathless in anticipation with the magic of dance
Arms entwined in a passionate embrace
as we sweep around the dance floor
He cannot hear the beat -- so he counts it
He stares into my eyes for reminders
when we are not watching our feet
I pass him navigational hints as
we stumble and stagger around the dance floor
Other couples sweep a wide path to avoid collision
The embrace is more of a death-grip
Yes, we are breathless
-- but it is mostly from the exertion and concentration
We hear the mutters -- "that instructor is a saint"
But I think my husband is the saintly one
Taking the class the first time
was a long held dream of mine
And yet here we are again.
Still dreadful
Maybe not quite as awful as the last time
Fred and Ginger in our hearts.
