Estuary

Vultures explode
Over headland's lip:
Silent fury.

Disturbed,
A blush of wings:
An egret:

Held between tide and sky
Its neck punctuating emptiness:
Silent sigh.

~Peter Seidman

Peter Seidman retired from a life as a teacher and program manager to write poetry and feed hungry street folk. He lives in Berkeley, California. Email.
